Convert EXT4 FileSystem to btrsf Synology NAS
First of all: You can’t convert when the disk is in the NAS.
I will explane how i did it, it only took 5 min with the tools I have. This guide is if you have an empty disk, if NOT you need to take a backup of the stuff you want to save on the HDD.
STEP 1 – Remove disk
Removed the HDD both from the Storage Pool and the HDD/SSD on the NAS. What I mean with this is that you have to delete it from the Storage Pool and the HDD/SDD list on the NAS.
STEP 2 – Wipe the HDD
Connect the HDD to your PC and removed everything on the HDD, partitions, well everything. Then I created ONE partition.I used EaseUS Partition Master for this, there is a built in for Windows 10 that can be used.
STEP 3 – Brand new
After that, the HDD is brand new for the NAS. Add the HDD to Storage Pool in the NAS i just add the HDD in the Storage Pool and do the “Verifying drives in the background” Of course you have to add it like a HDD to.
